Flooding presents environmental issues in the coast, highland, and rainforest settings. Flood and inundation causes are related to high precipitation patterns and extreme events, but also to human intervention; therefore, an integrated assessment of hazards and risks is needed to develop appropriate and feasible strategies in the local context. RED YAKU recognized experts provide services in hydraulics, hydrology, floodplain mapping in riverine and coastal environments, socioenvironmental characterization, and flood hazard and risk assessment to develop models that properly estimate risk and enhance land-use planning and management, design of infrastructure, and emergency response preparation.
