About us
RED YAKU is a Peru and USA-based research group that combines science, engineering, and technology to perform a unique combination of both research and engineering-based solutions for environmental and Earth surface processes. Our expertise provides interdisciplinary solutions for private and public agencies, industry, and research institutions (national and international) willing to collaborate with research and development in South America. Mixing both applied and fundamental research, RED YAKU works to devise models to predict structural and functional changes in complex ecosystems arising from external pressures by maintaining ecosystem benefits and value.
Our project portfolio covers different areas of hydraulic, environmental, and geological engineering. Some of our projects include the evaluation of hydraulic modeling to estimate the effects of dams and hydroelectric plants on the Madeira River, the development of guidelines to determine the effectiveness of nature-based solutions (natural infrastructure) for risk management of disasters in coastal basins, the systematization of water quality data and the development of platforms and technical advice in the management of social risks derived from climate change, local economic development and risk management in coastal areas.
